VARIOUS INFORMATION - MARCH 2025 |
||
Hi everyone
I have been asked to publicise the West Berkshire Directory and the attached leaflet should give you a brief explanation of what it is and the links to it.
I am publicising the below for Colin Cunningham, Debt Centre Manager – Newbury Christians Against Poverty. 07393 496480. Since re-opening last year, we have been helping more than 50 clients to get their debts cleared or repaid. We are now offering the CAP Money Coaching course in Newbury, which is superb for helping people think about their spending habits, create their own personal budget, and then most importantly how to stick to it. Essentially it should help people from all walks of life (working, retired, students, on benefits) to avoid getting into debt.
The course is completely free and is held across 2 sessions and currently an evening and daytime course is available at St. Nicholas Church Hall in March and April respectively. Details and registration can be found at the following website when you enter a Newbury postcode.
Please consider publicising and referring this course to people who you think may benefit from it. Colin can supply you with some A4 posters if you contact him. https://capuk.org/get-help/money-coaching
The below is a link to a particularly concerning scam with some stats. published from Which? Deepfake phone calls: a quarter of scam calls in the UK are powered by AI Deepfake phone calls - how scammers can clone your voice Some people feel that talking to a scammer annoys them or stops someone else being scammed etc. The advice is to hang up or stop the call with any scammer and report to Action Fraud.
Eventbrite is a popular ticketing website where users can buy and sell tickets for anything from gigs to local community events. Unfortunately, a tactic known as ‘event cloning’ is used by scammers to sell fake tickets to seemingly genuine events. Find out what happened to one victim who had their event cloned by scammers. And if you ever buy tickets online, here are four things you need to know in order to stay safe, including how to report fraudulent events.
